Acura has fully redesigned its entry-level luxury sedan and the result is a longer, wider and roomier 2009 Acura TSX. A passionate performer with a 201 horsepower, 4 cylinder i-VTEC engine leading the charge, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) for supreme control, Bluetooth HandsFreeLink, and the available Acura Navigation System, the 2009 Acura TSX is a four-door, five-passenger sedan competing with Audi A4 and BMW 3 Series sedans. It features a 2.4-liter inline-4, and a choice of transmissions, a six-speed manual and a five-speed SportShift sequential automatic.

This ace 2009 Acura TSX sedan now looks more aggressive and more polished. Every feature inside is powered now, including the adjustments on both front seats. The standard features include dual-zone climate control and heated seats and outside mirrors. A full array of airbags to electronic stability control to tire pressure monitors come at no extra cost delivering total safety and security.

2009 Acura TSX
The new 2009 Acura TSX is lower, wider and adds some appealing curves to the previous model's chiseled lines. The flared fenders over each wheel provide a muscular stance and Xenon High-Intensity Discharge (HID) headlights, a front chin spoiler, and large air inlets contribute to an aggressive appearance. Subtle details, such as thin A-pillars, integrated side-mirror signal lights, dual exhaust outlets and elegant chrome accents exude an aura of luxury.

2009 Acura TSX Model lineup, accessories and safety features

The 2009 Acura TSX comes standard with xenon HID headlights; fog lights; speed-sensitive wipers, leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated seats, eight-way adjustable driver's seat with memory, four-way passenger seat, power seats, windows and locks, heated outside mirrors, steering wheel controls for cruise and audio, seven-speaker AM/FM/XM/6CD stereo; USB and auxiliary audio input jacks in the center console, power tilt-and-slide moonroof with shade; Bluetooth connectivity; garage door remote and two power outlets.

The 2009 Acura TSX with the Technology Package features a 10-speaker, surround-sound, 415-watt, AM/FM/XM tuner with multi-format, six-disc CD/DVD audio changer in the place of a standard audio system. The navigation system adds a rearview camera, AcuraLink Real-Time traffic (in 76 major metropolitan markets) with dynamic re-routing, AcuraLink weather and AcuraLink satellite communication system.

2009 Acura TSX Inside and out

The 2009 Acura TSX continues its long-held reputation of providing elegant, yet functional, interiors. The look is more modern and sophisticated, and everything has been designed to enhance the art of driving.

The 2009 Acura TSX's interior is easy, comfortable without being plush, sporty without being sparse. The front seats are supportive. The bottom cushion is not too deep. The seating comforts are better in BMW 3 Series and new BMW 1 Series with their extendable thigh supports. The front seat passengers, if they are tall, feel as if they are sitting in a hole. The rear seat is more like a bench than twin buckets. Rear head restraints can be adjusted for height, a plus for its occupants. All four doors have dual inside pulls, one horizontal and one angled up, for easy closing by passengers of any stature.

Storage space is more than adequate. Every door has a molded-in space for a water bottle, the front doors room for the proverbial map. To help keep the cabin uncluttered, the TSX is fitted with cleverly dispersed storage space including 13 storage spaces, not including beverage holders. Trunk space has come down from the 2008 Acura TSX as it houses some equipment of the new standard navigation system.

The wedge shape of the new 2009 Acura TSX body allows for a generous 12.6 cu ft trunk, which can be expanded by dropping the rear seatbacks. The 60/40 rear seatbacks can be lowered from the trunk area via easy-to-reach releases. The trunk opening is low and wide for easy loading and unloading. The front end cues have been carefully selected from Acura's other two sedans, the sporty 2009 Acura TL and the more serious 2009 Acura RL, and from the 2009 Acura MDX sport utility.

2009 Acura TSX Driving Impressions

The 2009 Acura TSX delivers an enjoyable, moderately sporty car performance. Suspension balance is good and it takes corners at speed with more confidence and less body lean than the previous-generation model. However, it does not deliver much fun as a real sporty sedan could/should for one simple reason: it is front-wheel driven. Any car burdened with a front/rear weight bias of 60/40 fails to deliver the responsiveness and agility of a rear-wheel-drive car and thus fails to provide a real sporty sedan performance.

Though the horsepower is down slightly from 2008 Acura TSX, the torque has been increased slightly. Interestingly, the fuel economy has gone up by two miles per gallon, to 21/30 mpg city/highway. The fuel economy remains unchanged with the manual transmission model and has improved with the automatic one. The TSX with six-speed manual transmission has EPA estimated fuel economy of 20 miles per gallon in the city and 28 on the highway. With the automatic transmission it has EPA estimated fuel economy of 21 in the city and 30 on the highway. The TSX features a front-wheel-drive configuration, while a true sporty sedan is rear-wheel driven. However, the 2009 Acura TSX is one of the better-handling front-wheel-drive sedans in its class.

The top of the line audio system sets a standard for the class with superb crisp surround sound. Hands-free, Bluetooth cell phone architecture has been built right into the car's electronics. Acura stays a step ahead of the digital music age with a USB connection for interfacing with Apple iPod8 players and other USB mass storage devices that contain MP3, WMA6 or AAC music files. In short, it can be said that the 2009 Acura TSX decent a car and with an all-wheel drive and just a little bit more power, it could give BMW and Audi a real run for their money.
