Acura's RDX made its debut in the compact luxury SUV segment for 2007. The 2008 Acura RDX is a four-door, five-passenger luxury SUV. It is available in two trims, the 5-Spd AT and the 5-Spd AT with Technology Package. They remain unchanged following the 2007 introduction. The turbo-charged engine makes the RDX an exciting vehicle to drive, going from zero to 60 mph in 6 seconds. Fuel efficiency is 17 miles per gallon in the city and 22 mpg on the highway.

The sole powertrain is a 2.3-liter, 240-horsepower, turbo-charged, four-cylinder engine teamed with a five-speed automatic. The five-speed automatic with paddle shifters is standard; but Acura's advanced SH-AWD all-wheel-drive system is also available. SH-AWD transfers torque between the wheels to optimize steering and handling. Standard performance features include stability control, traction control and anti-lock disc brakes with brake assist. The turbo-charged engine requires 91-octane fuel.

The Acura RDX wears Acura's five-point grille, has a wide rectangular opening in the bumper, and features dual exhaust pipes, a lift gate spoiler and high-intensity-discharge headlights. Inside the cabin, the driver faces a three-pod instrument cluster, plenty of storage slots, and upscale amenities. The Acura RDX has a comprehensive list of premium standard features that include dual-zone automatic climate control; leather seating; heated front seats; xenon headlights; and a 260-watt audio system with a six-disc CD changer. An optional technology package adds a navigation system; Bluetooth connectivity; AcuraLink; rearview camera; 410-watt system with 10 speakers; and speed sensitivity control. A technology pckage, priced as a separate model, includes a wireless cell phone link and navigation system.

The Acura RDX has a sweep of safety features, including active front head restraints; side-impact air bags for the front seats; and side curtain air bags.
