  2008 Chevrolet Uplander Review
  Overview

The 2008 Chevrolet Uplander, a four-door minivan with styling like that of a sport utility vehicle, is a prominent contender in its segment for passenger comfort and flexibility. For 2008, the Uplander minivan receives some minor equipment revisions, including the addition of standard XM satellite radio and an auxiliary input jack for the MP3 player.

  Engine and Performance

The 2008 Chevrolet Uplander minivan comes in regular and long-wheelbase sizes, with front-wheel drive and a 3.9-liter, 240-horsepower V-6 engine. It comes in LS and LT trim levels. The short wheelbase is only available on the LS, while the LT comes in three different equipment subsets: 1LT, 2LT and 3LT. It comes with a warranty of 36 months or 36,000 miles. Its EPA estimates are 23 mpg on highways and 16 mpg in city areas.

  Body and Styling

The Chevrolet Uplander replaces the Venture and Astro. It seats seven passengers in three rows of seats, two of which can be folded or removed. The regular wheelbase models come in LS trim only, while the extended versions are available in LS or upscale LT trim. The LS offers 17-inch alloy wheels; full power accessories; air conditioning; a CD/MP3 player; and OnStar communications system. The wheels measure 17 inches in diameter, and the optional roof rack has satin-finished side rails. Automatic rear load-leveling shock absorbers are installed. Riding on a standard 113-inch wheelbase, the Uplander is 191 inches long overall. Extended-length models have a 121.1-inch wheelbase and are 204 inches long overall.

  Safety Features

The Chevrolet uplander is equipped with all-disc anti-lock brakes; daytime running lamps; and electronic stability system. Optional side-impact air bags are installed in the first- and second-row chairs.
