  2008 Chrysler Crossfire Review
  Overview

In 2004 Chrysler found a winning formula in the Crossfire Coupe, with its low-slung bumper and rear-wheel drive. The Roadster followed in 2005. Judging by the 2008 models, which are a carryover from 2007, it appears Chrysler has yet to strike a similar dollar-earning formula. However, in terms of policy there has been a major change: the SRT 6, with its 330-horsepower, smoke-spitting, supercharged V-6 engine has been discontinued.

  Engine and Performance

With the discontinuation of the SRT 6, the Chrysler Crossfire now comes with a more toned-down 3.2- liter V-6 engine that generates 215 horsepower and 229 pound-feet of toque. It has an automatic five-speed AutoStick transmission as standard, while a six-speed manual gearbox is optional.

  Body and Styling

Large sculpted taillights that end just above the exhaust pipes; a receding rear shape; 19-inch wheels in the rear and 18-inch wheels in front; a wheelbase of 94.5 inches and a height of 51.5 inches are some standard exterior features. The interior leaves a few things to be desired in the two-seater Chrysler Crossfire - with the twin cockpit as it is uncomfortable for those making an entry or exit. The seats are attractive with cloth or leather upholstery.

  Safety Features

Front air bags, which deploy to various degrees depending on the size and position of the occupants; as well as knee bags for driver and passengers make the Chrysler Crossfire a safe bet in most conditions. Augmenting these are side-impact air bags; anti-lock disc brakes on all four wheels; and electronic stability system, all of which are now standard.
