2008 Kia Rio Review |
| |
Overview |
|
| |
The 2008 Kia Rio remains largely unchanged in this new model year and is available as a 4-door sedan in base, LX, and SX trims. First introduced in the U.S. in 1994, the entry-level Kia Rio is one of the lowest priced sedans sold in America. Affordably priced for budget-bound buyers, the Kia Rio is backed by one of the best powertrain warranties, 120 months/100,000 miles, in the auto market. |

Engine and Performance |
|
| |
The Kia Rio has an energetic 1.6-liter (L) VVT that generates 110 horsepower (hp) equipped with a standard 5-speed manual transmission (MT) on the base sedan. A 4-speed automatic is available on LX and SX. Fuel economy is rated at 27/32 mpg (city/highway) with the 5-speed manual and 25/35 mpg (city/highway) with the 4-speed automatic. |

Body and Styling |
|
| |
Inspired by European styling, the Kia Rio's profile displays a wedge shape with a strong nose and swept-back, slanting headlights. The front features a black mesh grille, bumpers with black inserts, and black bodyside moldings with flared fenders. Standard alloy wheels, body-color rear spoiler, and available front fog lights add to its sporty looks. The Rio offers a spacious cabin, roomy trunk with 11.9 cubic feet of cargo space, storage pockets, good legroom, and a 60/40 split folding rear seat. |

Safety Features |

The Kia Rio comes with a sweeping set of passive safety features. Even the base model comes with six airbags. All Rio models have standard ABS, side-impact airbags for front occupants, full-length side curtain airbags, and three-point belts in all seating positions. |
