  2008 Kia Sedona Review
  Overview

The 2008 Kia Sedona is a popular minivan available in both short and long wheelbase versions. The Sedona offers some new features on the 2008 models, including a split, folding third-row seat, front seat side-impact airbags, side curtain airbags in all three rows, active front head restraints, anti-lock brakes, and an electronic stability system. The long-wheelbase Sedona comes in two trim levels: standard LX and upscale EX. The short-wheelbase Sedona is available in a single, base trim level.

  Engine and Performance

The Kia Sedona is powered by a 3.8-liter V-6 that produces 250 hp and 253 lb-ft. of torque. A five-speed automatic transmission with manual-shift mode is standard. A redesigned suspension improves handling to deliver a smooth ride. Fuel economy is rated at 16/23 mpg (city/highway).

  Body and Styling

The Kia Sedona comes loaded with features, has excellent build quality, cabin comfort, and storage space. For 2008, the lower grille in the bumper is black, and the upper grille gets a metal-finish look. The LX comes with second-row captain's chairs and fold-flat third-row seating, apart from the usual convenience features. The EX upgrades with power-sliding doors, a power lift-gate, or a Luxury package.

  Safety Features

The Kia Sedona is the first and only minivan ever to earn both a 5-star crash safety rating from the U.S. Government and be named "Top Safety Pick" by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. Seat-mounted side-impact airbags and side curtain airbags in all three rows of seats are standard. All-disc anti-lock brakes incorporate electronic brake-force distribution. Active front head restraints, an electronic stability system, and traction control with brake assist are standard safety features.
