The 2008 Lexus GS is a premium midsize car. For 2008 it gets a few styling touches and a new V-8 engine. In true Lexus tradition, this luxury sedan is outfitted in a single, fully equipped trim level with a choice of rear-wheel or all-wheel-drive variants. New for 2008 is the GS 460, a V-8 model that is available in rear-wheel drive only.

The Lexus GS lineup starts with the GS 350, which is powered by a 303-horsepower, 3.5-liter, V-6 engine and has a six-speed automatic transmission. It is available with rear-wheel or all-wheel drive. New for 2008, the GS 460 has a 342-horsepower, 4.6-liter V-8 and an eight-speed automatic transmission. The hybrid GS 450h uses a gasoline V-6 engine with an electric motor that produces 339 horsepower and can run on either of its power sources. The GS 450h requires no plug-in charging and comes with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). The EPA-estimated mileage rating is 19 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway for rear-wheel-drive vehicles. Factory options include 18-inch wheels with summer tires, rear park assist, adaptive headlights, rain-sensing wipers, ventilated front seats, adaptive variable suspension dampers, and a premium 14-speaker Mark Levinson DVD-audio sound system with navigation and a rear back-up camera.

Lexus tradition gives the GS 350 a luxurious and well-crafted cabin offering spacious accommodation for four adults. This midsize luxury sedan is outfitted in a single, fully equipped trim level with amenities that include 17-inch alloy wheels, xenon headlights, a sunroof, leather seating, automatic dual-zone climate control, 10-way power front seats, and a 10-speaker premium audio system with six-CD changer, auxiliary audio jack and cassette player.

Safety features include anti-lock brakes, traction control, an anti-skid system, curtain side air bags, front side air bags, and front knee air bags. Other optional features include steering-linked headlamps, run-flat tires and Lexus' pre-collision system.
