The most striking change in the 2008 Lincoln MKX is Sync, the voice-based software platform that enables users to play music and operate a Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone using voice commands. The MKX is a five-seat crossover based on the same platform as the Lincoln Aviator sport utility vehicle.

The Lincoln MKX comes with a 265-horsepower, 3.5-liter V-6 engine and the option of a front-wheel or four-wheel drive. The transmission is automatic.

Other than Sync, interior features include standard heated and cooled front seats, reverse sensing system, memory seats and mirrors, and driver and passenger power lumbar. Other interior features include an in-dash LCD screen; an auxiliary audio input jack suitable for a good number of devices; an optional rear-seat DVD entertainment system with an 8-inch screen; and standard Sirius satellite radio. Prominent among exterior feature is the glass-panel roof, which Lincoln calls vista roof and which comprises a large front and a fairly big-sized rear moonroof.

The list of safety features for the 2008 Lincoln MKX is fairly long. The major ones are standard side-impact front-seat air bags, four-wheel-disc anti-lock brakes, side-curtain air bags, electronic stability system, and roll stability control. Among available optional features are adaptive headlights, which swing left and right with the steering wheel position and offer the driver a better view of the road.
