The Mazda 6 has been the sports car of the midsize sedan segment since its debut five years ago. The all-new 2008 Mazda 6 is stylish, has a sporty personality, and provides plenty of family-friendly practicality. It is a front-wheel drive and a thrill to drive. For 2008, the Mazda 6 Sport Wagon has been discontinued.

All 2008 Mazda 6 models are front-wheel drive. A 2.3-liter, four-cylinder engine that produces 156 horsepower and 154 pound-feet of torque is standard on the i-model while the s-model gets a 3.0-liter V-6 that produces 212 horsepower and 197 pound-feet of torque. The Sport trim comes only with a five-speed manual transmission, while the Sport Value Edition offers a five-speed automatic. The Touring and Grand Touring trims are only available with a six-speed automatic.

A midsize car, 2008 Mazda 6, is available as a four-door sedan and a "five-door" sedan with a hatchback. The Sport comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, full power accessories, air conditioning, cruise control, a tilt-telescoping steering wheel, and six-speaker stereo with a CD player. The Touring has heated mirrors, leather upholstery, heated front seats and a seven-speaker Bose stereo. The Grand Touring, with 18-inch wheels, adds xenon headlights, fog lamps, a sunroof, electroluminescent gauges, automatic climate control, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.

All Mazda 6 models come standard with anti-lock disc brakes, traction control, front-seat side air bags and full-length side curtain air bags. In government crash tests, the Mazda 6 scored a perfect five stars in frontal impact testing and four stars in side impact testing.
