  2008 Mercury Grand Marquis Review
  Overview

The 2008 Mercury Grand Marquis is the only vehicle in its class with a standard torque-rich V-8 engine. This full-size sedan is a perennial favorite, comfortably seating six adults. A carryover from 2007, it is competitively priced for its luxury midsize segment and offers great value for money.

  Engine and Performance

The 2008 Mercury Grand Marquis is available in GS and LS trims and comes with a single 4.6-liter V-8 engine mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission that generates 224 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque. According to EPA estimates, the Grand Marquis gives fuel economy of 17 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway.

  Body and Styling

The base GS models have 16-inch steel wheels with faux chrome wheel covers. Also standard is an air conditioning system, a CD player, a front bench seat with power adjustments for the driver, cruise control, automatic headlamps, full power accessories, and keypad entry. The LS comes with 16-inch alloy wheels, fog lights, automatic climate control, leather upholstery, power seat adjustments for the front driver and passenger, leather-wrapped steering wheel, rear-seat fold-down armrest, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, heated side mirrors, an overhead console with a compass, and a Homelink garage door opener. A sunroof, heated front seats, and an upgraded audio system with a CD changer are optional for the LS. A rear air suspension is optional on both GS and LS trim levels.

  Safety Features

Safety features include four-wheel anti-lock brakes with brake assist, electronic brake force distribution, and a tire-pressure indicator. The 2008 Mercury Grand Marquis has the longest running five-star rating in front crash tests and is the only car in its class to receive these ratings 12 years in a row. Also, when it is equipped with available front-seat side air bags, it is the only vehicle in its class to have received five stars in all categories.
