  2008 Mitsubishi Eclipse Review
  Overview

The fourth-generation Mitsubishi Eclipse is a fun-to-drive sporty coupe that offers tremendous value. For 2008, the Eclipse lineup adds the SE trim level for both the 2.4-liter and 3.8-liter V-6 engines. The special edition package includes cosmetic and functional enhancements such as a dark charcoal leather and terracotta interior; front chin spoiler; rear deck lid spoiler; 18-inch sword-silver-finish wheels; and SE body graphics.

  Engine and Performance

Mitsubishi Eclipse GS and SE are powered by a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine producing 162 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque. These engines are teamed with either a five-speed manual transmission or a four-speed automatic with manual shift mode. The 3.8-liter V-6 in the Eclipse GT and SE-V6 pumps out 263 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque.

  Body and Styling

The Mitsubishi GS model sports 17-inch alloy wheels. It also has numerous advanced features such as fog lights; split-folding rear seats; six-speaker MP3-capable CD stereo; air conditioning; keyless entry; and power windows, locks and mirrors. The GT boasts of 18-inch alloy wheels; traction control; and outside temperature display and compass. The interior needs a special mention with its unique gauge cluster and design flourishes.

  Safety Features

The Mitsubishi Eclipse comes with a raft of standard safety features including four-wheel anti-lock brakes; daytime running lights; child seat lower anchorage; adjustable upper belt with front pretensioner energy management feature; and advanced air bags.
