  Overview

The all-new 2008 Nissan Altima is a sporting family sedan. It is a comfortable and practical car powered by a robust engine and a responsive continuously variable automatic transmission. The 2008 Altima is available as a midsize sedan or coupe in a variety of models such as the Altima 2.5, Altima 2.5S, Altima 2.5SL, and Altima 3.5SE.

  Engine and Performance

The 2008 Nissan Altima sedan is available in four main trims: the base 2.5S, the 2.5S with 2.5SL Package, the 3.5SE and the premium 3.5SL. Buyers can choose the VQ-series 3.5-liter V-6 that delivers 270 horsepower or the 2.5-liter Inline-four backed by a six-speed manual transmission or advanced Xtronic CVT.

  Body and Styling

Built on Nissan's 'D' platform, the Altima offers sleek exterior styling as well as comfortable interiors loaded with a great entertainment system. New exterior features include camera lens-style headlights, motorcycle-inspired taillights, and dual exhaust with chrome tailpipes, 16-inch or 17-inch alloy wheels, and side mirrors with a unique crease. Inside features are made of good quality materials. The Altima is equipped with an Intelligent Key with Push Start Ignition, Bluetooth Hands-free Phone System, Rearview Monitor, touch-screen navigation system, sunroof wind deflector, door edge guards, in-cabin microfilter, eight-way adjustable driver's seat, 60/40 rear-split seat, steering-wheel mounted controls, and a Bose audio system.

  Safety Features

Standard safety equipment on every 2008 Nissan Altima includes front-seat side airbags and full-length side curtain airbags, an occupant-classification sensor, front-seat active head restraints, front seatbelts with pre-tensioners, safety stops, pipe-style steel side-door guard beams, and load limiters. Anti-lock brakes are standard on the 3.5 sedan trims and coupes, and optional on the 2.5S sedan. Traction control is standard and stability control is optional on the 3.5 trims.
