  2008 Nissan Maxima Review
  Overview

The 2008 Nissan Maxima continues its position as the flagship of the Nissan lineup, carrying the numerous enhancements and refinements from the previous model year, when the Maxima received extensive styling, performance, and amenity enhancements. For 2008, a new Platinum Edition Package that has driver memory features, driver's seat power lumbar support, auto-dimming outside mirrors, HID Bi-Xenon headlights, Bluetooth Hands-free Phone System, heated steering wheel, and more, is available on both SE and SL models.

  Engine and Performance

The 2008 Nissan Maxima is powered by an award-winning 255-horsepower 3.5-liter DOHC 24-valve V-6 engine. The engine is mated to a smooth, efficient Nissan Xtronic CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission).

  Body and Styling

Nissan Maxima's front grille, hood, bumper, and headlights provide the front end a contemporary appearance, balancing the sporty look of the deep front valance and large wheel openings. Maxima's dynamic performance stance is accented by 17-inch (3.5 SL) and 18-inch (3.5 SE) 7-spoke aluminum-alloy wheels. Maxima's interior boasts of a high level of quality, luxury, and sportiness to match the unique exterior. The instrument panel features a center stack with quality feel and control ergonomics and a Fine Vision Meter gauge display for easy readability, all of which make for an intuitive, cockpit-like interior.

  Safety Features

The 2008 Nissan Maxima comes equipped with a standard advanced air bag system (AABS) with dual-stage front supplemental airbags, front seat side-impact supplemental airbags for chest protection, and roof-mounted curtain side-impact airbags for front and rear outboard occupant head protection. Also standard are front-seat active head restraints, 3-point rear seat belts for all seating positions, LATCH child seat anchors and tether system, and a tire pressure monitor system (TPMS).
