  2009 Nissan Murano Review
  Overview

The all-new 2009 Nissan Murano combines a thrilling performance and generous refinement with the brandâ??s characteristic quality and sophistication. It has a progressive design that gives this midsize crossover sport utility vehicle an elegant and dynamic look. The 2009 Nissan Murano is available in five models: S 2WD, S AWD, SL 2WD, SL AWD, and LE AWD.

  Engine and Performance

All 2009 Nissan Murano models are equipped with an advanced 265-horsepower, 3.5-liter, DOHC, V-6 engine that pumps out 265 horsepower and 248 pound-feet of torque. This powerhouse is backed by a new, advanced Xtronic CVT (continuously variable transmission), and a front-wheel or advanced all-wheel drive. Murano also features a new D-platform, as well as a new suspension, body structure and state-of-the-art steering for improved ride comfort and precise handling. Standard on all models is vehicle dynamic control (VDC) with a traction control system for all-weather confidence, in front-wheel or all-wheel drive configurations.

  Body and Styling

The 2009 Muranoâ??s new exterior sports a wide front with a dynamic front fascia, a wide grille with large integrated headlights, strong body-side character lines, pronounced 18-inch or 20-inch wheels, and a distinctive rear-end set off by an expansive rear glass area and LED taillights. Other exterior features include rain-sensing windshield wipers, a power lift gate and enhanced rearview monitor and camera. The large, dual-panel moonroof with power-sliding glass and a second row skylight is a new feature that provides an open-air experience without compromising on headroom. Muranoâ??s newly-designed interior boasts of a new instrument panel and center stack design, a new seat design with available double-stitched leather-appointed seating surfaces, premium materials such as leather and aluminum, a variety of storage compartments, and ambient lighting. Other standard interior features include pushbutton ignition, auto door lock, dual zone climate controls, fine vision gauges, and an AM/FM/CD player with a six-speaker audio system, auxiliary jack, VTR jack, MP3/WMA capability and more.

  Safety Features

Murano comes loaded with a raft of advanced safety features, including six standard air bags. Nissan's advanced air bag system (AABS) incorporates dual-stage supplemental front air bags with seatbelt sensors and an occupant classification sensor; roof-mounted, supplemental side-impact curtain air bags for front- and rear-seat occupant head protection. In addition are a tire-pressure monitoring system (TPMS) and driver/passenger seatbelt warning lamps. Also standard are front seatbelts with pretensioners and load limiters; lower anchors and tethers for children (Latch); front seats with active head restraints; and zone body construction with front and rear crumple zones.
