  2008 Pontiac Grand Prix Review
  Overview

The 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix is a more refined four-door, five-passenger sedan, powered by a robust V-8 engine that makes it feel like a race car. The GT model and its supercharged V-6 engine are not available for the current year.

  Engine and Performance

The 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix is available in base and GXP trim levels. The base version features a 200-horsepower, 3.8-liter V-6 engine. The GXP model is equipped with a 303-horsepower, 5.3-liter V-8 engine. Both engines are paired with a four-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission with overdrive. Front-wheel drive is standard. Fuel efficiency of the base Grand Prix is 18/28 mpg (city/highway), while the GXP gives 18/27 mpg (city/highway). The approximate fuel capacity is 17 gallons.

  Body and Styling

The 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix features exterior power-adjustable mirrors, and a sun and sound package that includes a sunroof and a nine-speaker Monsoon stereo with an in-dash six-disc CD player. Standard features on the base model include cruise control, keyless entry, 16-inch alloy wheels, full power accessories and OnStar. The GXP comes with a sport-tuned suspension, enhanced stereo system, 18-inch alloy wheels, heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, head-up display and leather upholstery. A navigation system and satellite radio are optional features.

  Safety Features

The 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix is equipped with a list of standard safety equipment, including a four-wheel anti-lock braking system with electronic brake-force distribution, a tire-pressure monitoring system, automatic door locks, theft-deterrent system, head curtain, front and rear side air bags, side impact crash protection, three-point safety belts at all seating positions, and lower anchors and top tethers for child seats. Standard on GXP are a full-function powertrain, brake modulated traction control, StabiliTrak sport, and head-up display.
