  2008 Porsche Cayenne Review
  Overview

The 2008 Porsche Cayenne comes with subtle changes in exterior styling and significant upgrades to engine and suspension. There is also a dramatic improvement in performance. This four-door and five-seater midsize, luxury crossover sport utility vehicle is available in three trim levels: base, S and Turbo. With more power this year, the Cayenne looks set to place itself above the rest in the luxury sports SUV class.

  Engine and Performance

The base trim comes with a 3.6-liter V-6 that generates 290 horsepower. The S trim is equipped with a 4.8-liter V-8 engine that produces 385 horsepower. The Turbo trim gets a 4.8-liter, turbo V-8 engine that produces an amazing 500 horsepower. All engines come with new direct injection to increase performance. The V-6 engine is coupled to a six-speed manual transmission, whereas the V-8 engines are accompanied by a six-speed Tiptronic S transmission, which is optional on the V-6. All models come with an all-wheel-drive configuration. Fuel economy is between 12 to 14 mpg in the city and 19 to 20 mpg on the highway.

  Body and Styling

Small design changes in the 2008 Porsche Cayenne include bigger air intakes, more angular headlights, sportier fenders, redesigned exterior rearview mirrors, a larger rear decklid spoiler, new taillights, rear undercarriage diffuser, and redesigned exhaust tips.

  Safety Features

Anti-lock disc brakes, front air bags, and full-length side curtain air bags are standard on the 2008 Porsche Cayenne. The stability control system is also standard, with the system now also featuring a rollover sensor. Active bi-xenon headlights, and front and rear park assist are standard on the Turbo, and available as an option on all other trims.
