  2008 Saturn Sky Review
  Overview

The Saturn Sky, said to be the first sports car from the Saturn platform, stormed the sports car segment in the first quarter of 2006 as a 2007 model. Combining a powerful engine, impressive performance and comfort, it is available with a roadster rear-wheel-drive system. For 2008, Saturn has incorporated changes in its styling, including standard interior tweaks, StabiliTrak electronic stability control and XM satellite radio. It is designed to take on the Mazda MX-5 Miata and Honda S2000 in the same segment.

  Engine and Performance

Saturn Sky is offered in Base and Roadster trims. Sky Base features a 2.4-liter, four-cylinder, 173-horsepower engine with 16 valves (variable valve timed), rear-wheel drive and limited slip differential. The Sky Red Line roadster gets a powerful 2.0-liter, direct injection, twin scroll turbo-charged engine that cranks out 260 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. of torque. Both engines are mated to either a five-speed automatic transmission or a five-speed manual transmission.

  Body and Styling

Sturn Sky is available in Base and Roadster body styles with rear-wheel drive configurations. Saturn Sky makes its presence felt with its bold and aggressive look. It features projector beam headlamps; power controls; adjustable steering column; and reclining bucket seats with accent stitching. Standard on the Base trim are 18-inch, painted, flangeless alloy wheels with Goodyear eagle RSA P245/45R18 96V performance all-season radial tires; the Red Line comes with standard 18-inch, polished, flangeless alloy wheels with Goodyear Eagle F1 GS2 P245/45R18 96W performance radial tires.

  Safety Features

Safety features include dual-stage driver and front passenger air bags with passenger sensing system; engine immobilizer and theft-deterrent system; side-impact door beams; StabiliTrak; front safety belts with pretensioners and energy-absorbing retractors; front and rear crumple zones anti-lock brakes; and remote keyless entry.
