The Saturn Vue is the first homegrown entry into the car-based sport utility vehicle segment by U.S. automakers Saturn and GM. Introduced in 2002, this small SUV featured unique drivetrain options, a spacious cabin and a low price. The all-new 2008 Saturn Vue is a five-passenger, versatile and compact crossover SUV with an almost identical wheelbase as its predecessor and marginally greater width and height. The key changes for 2008 include fresh looks and a new interior design, improved driving dynamics (with steering that actually feels connected to the front wheels) and the availability of numerous high-end safety and convenience features.

The 2008 Saturn Vue is available in three trim levels: base XE, midgrade XR and sporty Red Line. A hybrid Green Line trim powered by 2.4-liter, Ecotec, four-cylinder hybrid engine is also available .The base XE trim is powered by a 2.4-liter, inline-4 mated to a four-speed automatic that produces a class-competitive 164 horsepower and 160 pound-feet of torque. An optional 3.5-liter V-6 is also available on the XE, which sends 215 horsepower and 220 pound-feet of torque through a six-speed automatic. Both the XR and Red Line are powered by a 3.6-liter V-6 (also matched to a six-speed automatic transmission) that generates 257 horsepower and 248 pound-feet of torque. A manual-shift feature is standard on the Red Line and optional on the XR. All trims except for Green Line hybrid are available with front-wheel or all-wheel-drive configurations. Green Line hybrids have only a front-wheel drive.

The new 2008 Saturn Vue gets a European design on the exterior, handsome interiors and a much improved cabin. The previous interior plastic materials are replaced with high-quality materials. Brushed-aluminum accents on the steering wheel, door panels, parking brake and shift knob further the upscale treatment. In addition, the exterior is now constructed of steel body panels. The Vue has standardized climate and stereo controls, including an optional navigation system, which are well-designed and easy to use.

All 2008 Saturn Vue models come equipped with a wealth of standard safety features including anti-lock brakes, stability control, traction control, front seat side air bags, side curtain air bags and active head restraints.
