2008 Suzuki SX4 Sport Review |
| |
Overview |
|
| |
This body type is new for the Suzuki SX4 lineup in 2008. Derived from the popular Swift, the SX4 Sport sedan is an addition to the existing SX4 four-door hatchback crossover, and replaces the Aerio sedan. Being a variant only in body type, there is little to differentiate it from the SX4 crossover on most parameters. |

Engine and Performance |
|
| |
Like the crossover, the Sport sedan also gets a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine producing 143 horsepower at 5800 rpm and 136 pound-feet of torque at 3500 rpm. It also has the same transmission choices, a five-speed manual as standard and a four-speed automatic as optional. But while the crossover has standard all-wheel drive, the sedan comes with front-wheel drive. The sedan's manual version offers mileage of 22 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on highways, while the automatic version gives 23/31 mpg (city/highway). |

Body and Styling |
|
| |
The sedan gets 17-inch wheels compared to the crossover's 16 inchers. Standard interior features are more or less the same - AM/FM/CD/MP3/XMA-enabled stereo with four speakers, door locks, power windows and reclining 50/50-split tumble-fold rear seatback with three height-adjustable headrests. For an extra $500, the convenience package adds automatic climate control, heated outside mirrors, cruise control and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with a set of secondary audio controls. The premium package, for an extra $1000, offers keyless startup control, in-dash CD changer, nine-speaker stereo system, and stability and traction control. |

Safety Features |
|
| |
The following are among the SX4 Sport sedan's standard safety features: front seat-mounted passenger and driver side air bags; side curtain air bags and dual stage front passenger air bag supplemental restraint system (SRS) with front passenger-seat weight sensors; four-wheel-disc anti-lock brakes; and side-impact air bags. |
