The 2008 Volvo V70, the wagon version of the Volvo S60 sedan, has been completely redesigned. For 2008, load compartment, power tailgate and booster seats are standard. Volvo's hallmark has always been safety and the V70 endorses this with advanced safety features like collision warning with brake support. The V70 is available in just one trim level.

The Volvo V70 features a 235-horsepower, 3.2-liter, inline-six gasoline engine that drives the front wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission. The fuel economy is rated at 16 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway. Fuel capacity is 18.5 gallons, and cargo capacity 72.1 cubic feet. The V70 can carry 3,307 pounds.

Volvo has redesigned the front fascia of the V70 for more muscle, but retained the basic profile of the previous V70 model. The lift gate window is re-aligned to improve rear visibility. The V70 seats five, has a neat dash and center control panel. The rear seats split 40/20/40 to make room for different kinds of cargo; a movable cargo floor is also available. The V70 is well-accommodated and displays a full sweep of convenience features. The interior is the perfect example of a Scandinavian style that combines clean design, intelligent functionality, exceptional comfort and unmatched luxury. Leather upholstery, automatic climate control and power front seats are available. The cargo floor is fitted with aluminum rails and movable anchorage points that fold away when not in use. Side panels have built-in load anchorage eyelets to keep luggage securely in place. A lockable storage area under the floor is standard for increased security of smaller items. For added convenience in loading and unloading cargo, the V70 offers a new power tailgate. Other advanced features include the Volvo navigation system with HDD, DVD map data and remote control; a dual-screen rear seat entertainment system; 17-inch "Spartes" alloy wheel; a high performance sound system, rear seat headphone jacks and Sirius satellite radio.

Standard safety features include the next generation whiplash protection system (WHIPS); dynamic stability and traction control (DSTC); tire-pressure monitoring system (TPMS); and enhanced impact protection for pedestrians and cyclists. New options available for the first time on the V70 include adaptive cruise control with collision warning and auto brake; blind spot information system (BLIS); personal car communicator (PCC) with keyless drive; two-way car communication; and a heartbeat sensor.
