| Expansion |
In 1954, Suzuki was producing 6,000 motorcycles per month and had officially changed its name to Suzuki Motor Co., Ltd. Right from its inception, Suzuki showcased its penchant for innovation. In 1955, Suzuki's first mass-produced car Suzulight was introduced. It was a technological marvel featuring front-wheel-drive, four-wheel independent suspension and rack-and-pinion steering -- features seen common in cars half-a-century later.
In 1963, it started US Suzuki Motor Corp., a direct sales subsidiary, in Los Angeles. The same year, Suzuki brought its innovative motorcycle lineup to the United States, presenting riders new levels of value and dependability. The fast growing line-up made Suzuki the major player in the US motorcycle industry.
In 1968, Carry full-cab van was marketed, followed by marketing of LJ-Series 4X4 in 1970. In the year 1973, Suzuki Canada Ltd., was started in Ontario, Canada. In 1985, Suzuki introduced its automotive line to the United States, with the arrival of the Samurai. In 2001, it introduced America's first affordable seven-passenger SUV Suzuki XL-7.
The Verona and Forenza Sedans were added to Suzuki's line-up of SUVs and cars in the year 2004. In 2005, the Versatile Reno and the fully-loaded Forenza Wagon made its foothold strong in the US. The authentic SUV Grand Vitara marked its presence in 2006.
The latest line-up of Suzuki automotives includes models like XL7, Grand Vitara, SX4 Crossover, SX4 Sports, Forenza, Forenza wagon and Reno. |
